Mornings are crazy in our house. I'm sure you can relate if you have children. Between making lunches, hoping you washed their "color of the day shirt" for school, and checking to see if you've signed their nightly folder takes time. Just when you think you are finished they tell you they have a book-fair today and need money. The scrambling to find cash begins. Our boys are on team gymnastics and need their gym clothes and grips several days a week. Grrr, are they clean or am I secretly going into the hamper and pulling out a pair of shorts, sniffing to make sure it's wearable, then folding them to look freshly washed. Did I mention they had a project due that turned out 3 times the size of them, but didn't quite dawn on you the night before to think how they will actually get it to school. Packing a lunch for yourself? No time for that, just get them on the bus.

For those of you without children in the home, I'm hoping you've created some time for a morning workout...right? I'll pretend you said yes. Things can be just a busy for you if you work outside of the home.

Hence the need for a super quick breakfast. This is a staple in our house. Easy for the kids to make (adults too!), refreshing, crisp and filling. Here's what you need to know:

  • Get some greek yogurt (preferably plain, but I'll work with you on this)
  • Cut up apple, try red and green together
  • Walnuts - packed with omega-3's and they give it a wonderful nutty crunch or almonds
  • Blueberries, strawberries, raspberries or blackberries
  • Honey - if you followed my advice, but want it a little sweet (only to be used with plain greek yogurt)

Mix it up, take 5 and actually sit at the table, or like most of us throw it in a bowl and take it with you. Either way, it's a great way to start your day. Enjoy!
