The Fridge. Is it your Enemy?
The Fridge. Is it your Enemy?

This is the conversation that came before the picture of our refrigerator:
Me: I really want something.
Dr. Petteruti: Like what?
Me: I don't know, but nothing that's in here (as I stand holding the refrigerator door open for the 5th time, hoping magically something has appeared since I last opened it 30 seconds ago.
Dr. Petteruit: Well, there's some berries or a plum. How about and egg?
Me: An egg, really, it's 9:00pm
Dr. Petteruti: People eat eggs at 9:00pm. It's not like it's that outside the box.
Me: Forget it, I'm just not going to have anything.
And just like that zero calories, carbs or fat entered my body. I can tell you if there was "something" in our house that night to "eat" I would have eaten it. Why? Because most of us don't have will power. I certainly don't. A bag of cookies staring at me, forget it, I'll eat the entire contents.
We use the concept of "Premeditated Discipline" in our house everyday. It's not Will Power, it's just Planning.
-Shannon Petteruti, BSN, RN
Practicing what we preach. Here's a peek inside the refrigerator at the Petteruti house. We are weak like the rest of you. Premeditatied discipline, in the form of not stocking toxic foods in our house is the only way to prevent unhealthy eating. Building a better body, a better life, one decision at a time. -Dr. Petteruti
